Apeldoorn-Deventer train services disrupted after train hits car

The driver of a car was killed after a train ploughed into the vehicle at a level crossing near Apeldoorn on Wednesday afternoon.

No one on the train was hurt in the crash but the engine was badly damaged, news agency ANP reports. The car was propelled several hundred metres down the track.

Train traffic between Deventer and Apeldoorn has been suspended as the clean-up operation continues.

It is not clear from the media reports how the accident happened.
