Employers oppose cabinet with Wilders12-11-2009 A new government involving Geert Wilders' anti-Islam party PVV would be unstable and 'not do much good' for Dutch industry, a senior employers representative says in Thursday's Volkskrant. Niek Jan van Kesteren, who is number two at the VNO-NCW employers organisation, said: 'We have an open economy. We are helped by the fact there are no restrictions in terms of skin colour and religion and have an equal jobs market for everyone.' The main reason foreign firms based themselves in the Netherlands is the independent legal system, the transparent tax set-up and stable government, he said. The PVV could damage these institutions, the Volkskrant quoted him as saying. A government involving the Socialist Party would also be unstable, Van Kesteren told the paper. The PVV has nine seats in the current parliament but opinion polls show it may emerge as the biggest party after the next election in 2011. © DutchNews.nl |
