Amsterdam to win back gay capital title

Amsterdam council has backed plans to restore the city's reputation as an international gay capital, news agency ANP reports.
The city's reputation has taken a knock in recent years after a number of high profile attacks on gays.
The council's plan includes extra security cameras in popular gay nightlife areas, local-level activities to get gay and straight residents to mix and a campaign to get victims of gay-bashing to report incidents to the police.
In July the Dutch tourist board launched a new advertising campaign in North America with the tag line 'everyone's gay in Amsterdam'.
