Amsterdam to win back gay capital title10-09-2009 Amsterdam council has backed plans to restore the city's reputation as an international gay capital, news agency ANP reports. The city's reputation has taken a knock in recent years after a number of high profile attacks on gays. The council's plan includes extra security cameras in popular gay nightlife areas, local-level activities to get gay and straight residents to mix and a campaign to get victims of gay-bashing to report incidents to the police. In July the Dutch tourist board launched a new advertising campaign in North America with the tag line 'everyone's gay in Amsterdam'. © DutchNews.nl |
