No deal yet on Dutch state secrets in private British cyber security hands

The Dutch government and cyber security group Fox-IT have not yet reached a deal on ensuring Dutch state secrets stay secret, the NRC said on Wednesday.

Security specialist Fox-IT was taken over by British firm NCC at the end of 2015 for €133m and officials fear there is a risk sensitive Dutch information falls into other hands.

Fox-IT has placed all its Dutch government contracts into its subsidiary Fox Crypto and the government wants guarantees that this unit may not be sold, merged or dissolved without Dutch defence ministry permission.

However, Fox-IT cannot agree to the terms, the paper said, and is only willing to give the defence ministry security service MIVD advance warning of a sale.

Fox-It works for governments, defence departments, banks and commercial companies around the globe.
