Missing family with five children found safe in Germany

The family with five children who disappeared from a village near Arnhem on Sunday has been found safe and well just over the border in Germany.

The family are all in good health, a police spokesman said. Dutch police officers are now on their way to question them about the circumstances surrounding their departure from the village of Doorwerth.

Three of the children held a farewell party at their school on Friday and said the family was moving to America. The mother of the five children is said to be of American origin.

Neighbours alerted the police after hearing a lot of noise coming from their terraced home on Sunday. The family had driven off in their car, leaving a trail of destruction throughout the property, local media reported.
