Dutch coach unveils squad for crucial game against Turkey

Euro 2016 footballDutch coach Guus Hiddink has unveiled his squad for this month’s key European championships qualifier against Turkey, which includes Bas Dost for the first time.

Dost, who has scored 13 times for German club Wolfsburg since the winter break, has been called up for the preliminary squad several times but has never yet made the final cut.

Davy Klaassen from Ajax and Jonathan de Guzman (Napoli) were not in the pre-selection but have made the final list of 24. Robin van Persie is out through injury.

‘Of course we would like to have had him with us,’ Hiddink told a news conference. ‘But I am not going to use his absence as an excuse if things don’t go well.’

Six of the squad play for PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch Eredivisie leader and 13 for foreign clubs.

The match will be played on March 28 in the Arena stadium in Amsterdam. Oranje is currently third in group A with six points from four matches. Turkey is fourth with four points.
