The spate of underground shootings in Amsterdam show no sign of abating, police said on Wednesday, following the killing of a 25-year-old man on Tuesday evening.

The man, named by the Parool as Murat Garki from Almere, was shot outside a café in the city’s Rivierenbuurt and was ‘known’ to the police.

According to the Parool, Garki is a suspect in a number of crimes and had been released on murder charges earlier this year because of a lack of evidence.

On Monday, a woman was shot dead in Amstelveen in front of her children. She too was said to have organised crime connections.

However, according to the Telegraaf, there is no connection between the two shootings, and Garki’s death is related to disputes in the Turkish underworld.
