Dutch boycott produce set to be 0.1% of total exports

The Russian boycott on fresh food products will affect 0.1% of the total Dutch export market, the central statistics agency CBS said on Tuesday.

The Dutch export market was worth €433bn last year, of which €7bn came from Russia. That is 2% of the total market, the CBS said.

The meat, fish, dairy produce, vegetables and fruit which can no longer be sold to Russia were worth €527m, or 0.1% of total exports.

Most of the banned produce is produced in the Netherlands, but 9% of it is produced elsewhere, imported into the country and then sent on to Russia, according to the CBS.

Lithuania, one of Russia’s closest neighbours and an EU member, is set to be the worst hit by the Russian boycott, with 3.5% of its produce going to Russia.
