Amsterdam to host EuroHockey championships in 2017

Amsterdam has won the right to host the 2017 EuroHockey championships, in which the eight best men’s and eight best women’s teams in Europe will battle it out over nine days of play.

The tournament will centre on the Wagener stadium on the edge of Amsterdam and take place in August.

The Hague is currently hosting the hockey World Cup for both men and women. After five day’s play, the Dutch men are currently second in Group B with six points from two games. They take on Germany, ranked two in the world, on Friday evening.

The Dutch women, who are favourites to take the title, lead Group A with nine points from three matches. They are in action again on Saturday.
