Police look for third suspect in Deurne jewellery store shooting

Police in Noord-Brabant are looking for a possible third robber in their investigation into last week’s double shooting at a jewellery store in the village of Deurne.

One witness has come forward to say a third man was acting suspiciously and family and friends of one of the dead men, Abdel H, say an acquaintance of his may also have been involved, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The man is a dominant figure in Eindhoven and people are frightened of giving his name, the paper says.

Illegal

Two young men were shot dead in the robbery on Friday. Abdel H came from Eindhoven, the other is thought to have been illegally in the Netherlands and has not yet been formally named.

Justice officials say so far it appears the shop owners acted in self-defence when shooting the robbers.

The family of Abdel H said through their lawyer Peter Plasman on Monday evening that they will not take legal action against the shop owners if it is proved they had acted in self-defence.
