Finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem named politician of the year

The Dutch parliamentary press corps have voted finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem as their politician of the year.

Journalists describe the minister as ‘intelligent, cool and balanced’. He was also involved in a number of significant events this year, including the nationalisation of SNS Reaal and the autumn budget agreement.

D66 leader Alexander Pechtold was in second place and ChristenUnie leader Arie Slob was third.

GroenLinks leader Bram van Ojik was named talent of the year, with junior health minister Martin van Rijn in second place.
