Summer to return on Tuesday, for one day only

Warm air from the south will drive temperatures up to 20 Celsius on Tuesday, and it may be even warmer in the south of the country, weather bureaus said on Monday.

It will remain dry with sunny spells during the day although heavy showers are possible in the evening, the KNMI weather bureau said.

However, it is unlikely the national record of 22.1 Celsius in the De Bilt weather station set in 2006 will be broken. The average temperature in October is around 13 Celsius.

The rest of the week it will still be warm for the time of year at between 16 and 18 Celsius, but rain is also likely.
