King Willem-Alexander, queen Máxima to meet Russian leader Putin

King Willem-Alexander and queen Máxima will be formally received by Russian president Vladimir Putin during next week’s visit to Moscow, the state information service RVD said on Tuesday.

The king was due to visit Moscow in November to end a year of celebrations marking 400 years of contact between the two countries, but the trip had been called into question after a string of high profile diplomatic incidents.

Earlier this month, prime minister Mark Rutte said the details of a meeting with Putin had yet to be worked out.

In a short statement, the RVD said the king and queen would meet Putin on the evening of Friday November 8. On Saturday the Dutch royals will attend a concert by the Concertgebouw orchestra.
