Groningen ranked third in European quality of city life survey

Groningen tops three categories in an EU survey of the quality of life in 79 European cities.

Nowhere else in Europe was the population so satisfied with their health service (95%), public spaces (94%) and education (89%), the EU survey showed.

In terms of its total score, Groningen came in third place, behind Aalborg in Denmark and Hamburg, Germany. Zurich, Oslo and Copenhagen were joint third with Groningen.

Amsterdam was in 7th place. Napels and Palermo were bottom.

In total, 41,000 people in 79 cities across Europe and Turkey were asked about their cities’ provisions, its public transport, public safety and jobs.
