US spy chief cancels visit to Dutch internet security conference

The controversial director of America’s National Security Agency has cancelled a visit to the Netherlands next week because he is too busy, news agency ANP said.

General Keith Alexander was due to speak at a private KPN symposium focusing on privacy and cyber security

Troels Oerting, head of Europol’s cybercrime centre, and former Dutch armed forces chief turned cyber security expert Dick Berlijn are on the list of speakers.

Alexander was due to speak about ‘threats and developments in terms of internet security’ but ‘pressure on his diary’ led him to pull out, ANP said.
