Vitesse agrees record deal with Swansea for striker Wilfried Bony

Wilfried Bony, top scorer in the Dutch premier league last year for Arnhem club Vitesse, is moving to Welsh side Swansea for €13.8m.

Bony’s transfer is still subject to work permit clearance but the 24-year-old has passed a medical at the club’s pre-season training camp in the Netherlands.

Bony, an Ivory Coast international, has signed a four-year deal with Swansea.

‘This move has been talked about for quite some time, so I am delighted it is all completed,’ he said on the Swansea website. ‘Now it is important that I focus my mind on the challenge ahead because I hope to make the Swansea fans very happy.’

According to news agency ANP, five of the top seven scorers in the premier league last year have now left the Netherlands. Jozy Altidore, Sanharib Malki, Dries Mertens and Jeremain Lens have all moved to foreign clubs.
