Unemployment rises again as consumer confidence falls

The number of people out of work in the Netherlands rose by 0.1 percentage point to 8.3% in May.

The latest figures from the central statistics agency CBS show 9,000 more people were unemployed compared with April. However, that is fewer than in the previous three months when the average rise was 15,000.

Consumer confidence fell four points in June to -36, following three months of improvement. Consumers were more pessimistic despite little change in spending power, the CBS said.
