Five out of six Dutch Wimbledon singles entrants out in first round

Five of the six Dutch players at this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament in London have been eliminated in the first round, all of them losing in straight sets.

On Tuesday, Michaella Krajicek was thrashed 6-1 6-1 by Na Li of China, Araxanta Rus was beaten by Russia’s Olga Puchkova 6-4 6-2 and Thiemo Bakker lost 6-1 6-2 6-2 to James Blake of the US.

On Monday, Robin Haase and Kiki Bertens were also eliminated in the singles in straight sets.

Igor Sijsling remains the only Dutch player left in the singles. His first round match takes place later this week.
