Rotterdam positive on Feyenoord new stadium plans

Rotterdam city council’s executive is backing plans by football club Feyenoord to build a new stadium which may involve taxpayer investment, Nos television reports.

Feyenoord presented the plans for a new stadium last month. The design has not yet been completed but it will be built next to the current Kuip stadium and should be completed by 2018.

The cost has been put at €313m and the city council would have to guarantee half that, Nos said.

The plan still has to be approved by a full meeting of the council.
