Oil giants Shell, BP at centre of Brussels probe into price fixing

Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell, Dutch firm Argos, BP and Statoil have been targeted in a European Commission investigation into potential price fixing.

In a statement, the European Commission said a series of unannounced inspections were carried out by its officials on oil companies earlier on Tuesday.

These inspections are a ‘preliminary step’ in an investigation into suspected anti-competitive practices, Brussels said.
