250 volunteers join woodland hunt for missing brothers

Some 250 volunteers have now joined the search for two brothers missing since Monday when they were last seen in a car with their father who later killed himself.

Organised groups are combing woodland southeast of Utrecht in their hunt for Ruben, 9, and Julian, 7. Their father was found dead in woods near Doorn on Tuesday morning but no trace of the children has been found.

Police are continuing to examine surveillance camera footage taken on the 20 km stretch of road between the towns of Rhenen and Doorn in their efforts to establish which route their father took and if the children were still with him.

The boys’ parents are divorced and the children were spending some time with their father.
