Bookshop group in talks to take over Free Record Shop

Investment company ProCures, which took over the Selexyz and De Slegte bookshop chains last year, is in talks to take over the Free Record Shop, the Financieele Dagblad reports.

ProCures spokesman Bart Maussen said landlords and suppliers would have to agree to new terms if the takeover is to go ahead. ‘All sides will have to contribute,’ Maussen said.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Hans Breukhoven, the 66-year-old entrepreneur who founded the chain in 1971, is still a major shareholder in Free Record Shop but is no longer in charge of day-to-day affairs.
