Former economic affairs minister takes over as builders’ lobby chief

Former economic affairs minister Maxime Verhagen is to take over the helm at Bouwend Nederland, the construction sector lobby group.

Verhagen, who left politics at the September general election, will take over from Eelco Brinkman on July 1. Brinkman was a former junior health minister in the 1980s. Both men are from the Christian Democratic party.

In a statement, Verhagen said he was honoured to fill the job, particularly given the difficult conditions facing the construction sector.
