Russian activist suicide ‘a great tragedy’, says queen Beatrix

The suicide of a Russian activist in a Dutch deportation centre is a ‘great tragedy’ but a complicated case, Nos television reports queen Beatrix as saying.

The queen made the comments in conversations with reporters at the end of her two-day visit to Singapore, Nos says.

Alekasandr Dolmatov killed himself last week after his initial application for political asylum was rejected. His mother wrote an open letter to Beatrix, about her son’s death.
