A large number of fairground attractions in the Netherlands have not been properly inspected for years, according to a report in the Telegraaf.

Whistleblowers from the inspection firm Vincotte told the paper many of the inspectors have been taking bribes from the fairground owners in return for favourable reports.
‘Accidents have happened and people’s lives have been put at risk,’ one of the whistleblowers told the paper.
The Breda firm Vincotte carries out the fairground inspections on behalf of the food safety body NVWA, and is responsible for inspecting around a third of the attractions.
The NVWA is investigating the claims, says the Telegraaf.
