Education ministry to produce bullying protocol in March

Junior education minister Sander Dekker is drawing up a plan to help schools better deal with bullying, following two high-profile suicides by teenage victims.

Dekker said in a briefing on Tuesday schools and teachers are not currently equipped to deal with bullying and find it a difficult issue to deal with.

Teachers are often unaware pupils are being bullied, the minister said.

In addition, so many methods of dealing with bullying have been developed that schools find it hard to decide which options to follow.
