PostNL expects to deliver 160 million Christmas cards
Postal delivery group PostNL said on Monday it expects to deliver some 160 million Christmas cards over the holiday period.
On peak days, some 22 million items of post will be delivered, compared with 13 million on a normal work day, Post NL said.
Research published by PostNL earlier this month showed the Dutch send an average of 40 Christmas cards per household – more than any other European country.
Nevertheless, online Christmas greetings are depressing the sale of traditional cards. In 1999, 210 million cards were sent.
