Four more suspects to stay in jail over linesman death

Four of the eight people arrested in connection with the death of an amateur football linesman have been remanded in custody for a further month, news agency ANP said on Friday.


Two 16-year-old youths, a 17-year-old and a 50-year-old man are to spend a further 30 days in custody as the investigation into the death of Richard Nieuwenhuizen
continues. The four were arrested a week after the attack on Nieuwenhuizen following a match between two youth teams.
One 15-year-old youth has been sent home. Another 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds picked up on the evening of the attack also remain in custody.
Nieuwenhuizen was attacked by players from the visiting team Nieuw Sloten after a match against Almere club Buitenboys. He died in hospital the next day.
