Amsterdam school officials arrested for fraud

The chairman of an Amsterdam school board, its director and financial chief have been arrested in connection with a €250,000 fraud, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.

The three are suspected of signing up pupils at non-existent primary schools and then claiming some €250,000 in government subsidies for them.
The money has since been clawed back by the education ministry, the department says.
The department has refused to identify the school concerned.
