The re-opening of the Stedelijk modern art museum and the new Eye film museum in Amsterdam helped boost museum visitors by 1.5 million to 19.5 million this year.

Amsterdam’s Van Gogh museum was the most popular attraction in the list, compiled by the Dutch museum association. The Anne Frank house was second and the Rijksmuseum annex third.
De Pont museum in Tilburg managed to almost double its visitor total to 118,000, thanks to shows by Chinese dissident artist Ai Wei Wei and Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor.
