Many hbo students unsuitable for jobs market

Hbo college graduates are not ready for the jobs market and either have difficulty finding a job or need extra training from employers, according to research by students’ jobs agency StudentenBureau.

Six out of ten graduates do not have good work experience, the agency says.
In particular, graduates in the popular subjects such as communications or human resource management find it difficult to get a job, says StudentenBureau director Laurens Simonse. ‘There are too many of them coming on to the market at one time,’ she told the Telegraaf.
When they do find a job, graduates and employers discover there is a big gap between what is taught on an hbo course and office life in practice.
The results of this survey run counter to one published in the summer by the hbo council, which showed that graduates are highly valued in the jobs market.
