Finance minister will not be rushed on Greece bailout

The Netherlands will not be rushed into a decision on releasing the next tranche of bailout funds for Greece, finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem told the press ahead of Monday evening’s meeting of EU finance ministers.

Eurozone ministers agreed at the meeting to give Greece two more years, until 2016, to meet its deficit-reduction targets, but delayed a decision on the next bailout of €31.5bn.
Dijsselbloem said Greece is ‘absolutely’ showing progress but that the country still needs to implement a ‘few remaining’cuts before the bailout money is released.
Any decision on the Greece bailout will need to be passed by the Dutch parliament.
‘If I have to travel back and forth to Brussels two or three times before a decision is reached, I will do so,’ he said.
The next meeting of the eurozone finance ministers is on November 20.
