Court halts neurologist court case pending defence demands

Almelo district court on Wednesday halted the trial of a neurologist facing 21 charges in relation to patient abuse and neglect until December 17.

The court will then give its answers to a string of questions posed by Ernst Jansen Steur’s lawyers. In particular, they want more time to study the 6,000-page file on the case.
The main trial is expected to start in March or April next year.
On Wednesday morning local television station RTV Oost said Jansen Steur was also involved in a string of potentially unnecessary brain operations at the MST hospital in Enschede.
