Election: SP on pensions, income dependent for richer retirees?

There is confusion about the Socialist Party’s plans for the state pension despite pledges not to increase the official retirement age, news agency Novum reports on Tuesday.

The SP manifesto states the pension age will not change until 2020 at least. However, information given by party officials to the CPB government planning agency indicates the party wants to cut the state pension for better-off 65 and 66-year-olds from 2015 and increase the state pension age to 67 in 2025. After that, it will rise in line with life expectancy.
The CPB used that information to calculate the likely effect of party policies on the economy and prosperity. The results were published on Monday.
The SP manifesto makes no mention of any changes planned for later than 2020 and the party has been a strong defender of keeping the retirement age at 65, Novum points out.
The outgoing government plans a phased rise to 66 by 2019 and 67 by 2023 and this has already been approved by parliament.
The Novum report does not include a reaction from the SP.
