Airport police close net around turkey sandwich saboteur: Telegraaf

Police at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport have been able to establish at what point in the production process needles must have been inserted into six turkey sandwiches which ended up on Delta Airline flights, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

The paper says its sources say this has enabled the police to reduce the number of suspects and that they are ‘hopeful’ of a speedy arrest.
A team of detectives is continuing to interview ‘dozens’ of catering staff, cooks and drivers who were involved in the production of the sandwiches, which were found on four separate flights, the paper said.
Family
On Wednesday, police said the sandwiches and needles are being flown back to the Netherlands for tests.
The needles were found in six sandwiches on four flights between Schiphol and the US. Two were found by members of the same family on different flights, according to media reports.
The sandwiches were made by Gate Gourmet, a Swiss firm and one of the world’s biggest airline caterers. Only Delta flights appear to be affected.
