12-year-old is Schiphol airport’s youngest smuggler

A 12-year-old boy from Mali was arrested at Schiphol airport on Wednesday on suspicion of smuggling heroin, police said on Thursday.

Border guards became suspicious of the reason given by the boy for his journey and had his luggage inspected. It is not clear what quantity of the drug was found.
The boy’s final destination was the Netherlands.
On Monday police arrested a 16-year-old youth travelling alone from Suriname who was found to be carrying cocaine.
