School boys injured after getting lost on school trip

Two 15-year-old boys have been injured, one seriously, after getting lost during an orienteering exercise on a school trip, the Telegraaf reports.

The teenagers, who were to stay near the German town of Heimbach, 70 kilometres south-east of Maastricht, had been dropped off by coach and told to find the camp site. They were divided into groups of five and given maps and compasses.
One group got lost and phoned for advice. Told to make for the nearest town or village they set off through a forest, where two of them fell several metres down a steep slope.
Rescue services were eventually able to trace their position. Three hours after setting out, they were found and the two boys who fell were taken to hospital. The seriously injured youth is said to be in a stable condition.
