Arantxa Rus puts number five seed out of Wimbledon

Dutch tennis player Arantxa Rus put number five seed and US Open champion Sam Stosur out of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London on Wednesday.

Rus beat Stosur 6-2 0-6 6-4 in the second round and will next face either China’s Peng Shuai or Japan’s Ayumi Morita.
‘I’m very happy with this win, especially on the grass, as I haven’t won a match in the main draw before,’ the BBC quoted Rus as saying.
Rus is the second Dutch woman to progress in the tournament by knocking out a seeded player. On Tuesday, Kiki Bertens beat the number 19 seed Lucie Safarova in two sets. She faces Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakstan in the second round.
On Tuesday evening, Robin Haasse lost his first round match against Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina. The number nine seed beat the only Dutchman in the competition in four sets: 6-4 3-6 7-6 (3) 7-5.
