A court in The Hague will on Tuesday hear Geert Wilders’ arguments that the Dutch parliament should not be able to ratify the formation of a permanent European rescue fund until after the September 12 election.

Wilders says the decision is so important it cannot be taken by a caretaker government. In the Netherlands it is customary that once a government has fallen, it does not take controversial decisions.
Parliament last week voted by 100 to 47 votes in favour of ratification. Wilders has pledged to turn the election campaign into a referendum on Europe.
The Netherlands is contributing €4.6bn to the fund and a further €35bn in guarantees.
