PostNL executives to get no bonuses this year

Members of the executive board at postal delivery firm PostNL will not get a bonus this year, new CEO Herna Verhagen is quoted as saying by the Financieele Dagblad.

The company has been at the centre of protests since it emerged the board had been given hefty bonuses and pay rises, despite a reorganisation which is costing thousands of workers their jobs. In addition, PostNL has refused to top up shortfalls in the company pension scheme.
The paper says Verhagen told a shareholders meeting ‘it is not a good idea [to give bonuses] at a time when so much is being asked of staff and clients’.
Verhagen took over as CEO earlier this month when Harry Koorstra stepped down, citing differences with the supervisory board.
