Ajax stretches premier division lead, PSV loses to RKC

Amsterdam football club Ajax stretched its lead in the premier division to three points on Wednesday evening with a convincing 0-5 win over Heerenveen.

But PSV Eindhoven, which won the KNVB Cup at the weekend, seems to have lost their chance to take the double. PSV lost 2-1 to a surprisingly strong RKC Waalwijk.
AZ of Alkmaar, which had been one point behind Ajax, drew 2-2 against third placed Twente, with the Enschede side equalising in the dying minutes of the match. Phillip Cocu’s men are now trailing Ajax by seven points.
Feyenoord, which is also hoping for automatic entry to European competition next year, failed to score against Roda JC and remain in fourth place.
