Tilburg joins in court effort to stop cannabis cafe pass system

Tilburg cannabis cafe owners are to follow their Maastricht colleagues in going to court to halt government plans to turn them into members’ only clubs.

Lawyers representing Maastricht owners said ten days ago they would be arguing the introduction of membership cards infringes people’s privacy and breaks the law on discrimination because non-Dutch residents will be banned.
Tilburg owners are basing their case on these points and on the fact that the nuisance caused by drugs tourists is much smaller in their city than in Maastricht, news agency ANP reports.
Nuisance was the main reason for the introduction of membership cards.
