The man who murdered film-maker Theo van Gogh will not be prosecuted for beating up a fellow inmate during a fight in the high security wing of Vught prison.

Mohammed Bouyeri, who is serving a life sentence for the killing in 2004, allegedly attacked Jessy R in the exercise yard in May 2011. According to Jessy R, Bouyeri planned the attack meticulously, taking boxing lessons before hand and wearing heavy shoes on the day.
Eight prison guards watched events from behind a glass wall but did nothing to stop the fight, reports local newspaper the Brabants Dagblad.
Dropped
Now Jessy R’s lawyer has been told by the public prosecution office in Den Bosch that the case against Bouyeri has been dropped, the paper reports.
‘A court case against this inmate would attract a lot of publicity, and he is already serving life,’ the lawyer told the paper. She is considering a court appeal.
Six years after he killed Van Gogh, Bouyeri wrote in a letter to a Muslim group that he had no regrets about about the choices he has made and the road he has travelled.
