The VU university teaching hospital, broadcaster RTL and television production company Eyeworks have agreed to split the cost of a cancelled reality tv show set in the hospital’s accident and emergency department.

Each of the three parties has agreed to pay €188,000 for the show which was dropped after one programme because of a row over privacy. In a statement, the three parties said all feel equally responsible for the project.
The hospital had allowed Eyeworks to install 35 remote-controlled cameras to record activity in the department over a two-week period. Several patients were filmed without their consent, breaking patient confidentiality rules.
Three patients who were filmed without their knowledge have since launched damages claims against the hospital, doctors and Eyeworks.
