Car-manufacturer Nissan declared in interest in taking over part of the NedCar plant during a conversation with Nos television at the Geneva car show on Tuesday.

According to the Nos website, after-sales Europe director Peter Cornelis said the plant in Born would be ideal for making parts for Nissan. However, Nissan would not be interested in taking over the whole plant, he said.
Nissan is looking for extra capacity and thinks the Born plant is modern enough to produce high quality parts which would be assembled elsewhere.
There was no mention of what would happen to the 1,500 currently employed by NedCar.
Swiss offer
Earlier on Tuesday, interest was expressed in taking over the complete NedCar plant by the Swiss company Q-PM. CEO Geoffrey Hunziker told the Financieele Dagblad that all 1,500 workers at the plant will keep their jobs if the take-over goes ahead.
However, Q-PM is proving difficult to find, according to press reports. Mitsubishi, which currently operates the plant, says it has never heard of the Swiss company. Enquiries in Switzerland have also failed to provide much in the way of information.
Mitsubishi Motors announced earlier this year it is stopping all car production in Europe next year.
