Book chain Selexyz looks to used book sector for help

Book chain Selexyz and second-hand book chain De Slegte are in talks about a far-reaching partnership, director Jan Dingemans told Radio 1 on Tuesday morning.

‘De Slegte has an advantage over other interested parties because of its knowledge of the book trade,’ Dingemans said.
Last week Selexyz, with a workforce of 400, asked for a suspension of payments following a long-term decline in turnover. The chain has already made cost savings and frozen salaries because of the malaise in the book sector.
It is hoped that the involvement of De Slegte will save the company from bankruptcy.
Selexyz hopes to give more details on Tuesday afternoon.
