Prince Friso critically ill after being hit by avalanche while skiing

Prince Friso, the second son of queen Beatrix, is critically ill in hospital after being caught up in an avalanche while on a skiing holiday in Lech, Austria.

The prince was under the snow for 15-20 minutes and was taken to hospital in Innsbruck by helicopter. The prince is not out of danger but his condition is now stable in intensive care, the state information service RVD told the Telegraaf.
The royal family spend their winter holidays in Lech. The prince and three others were skiing off piste when they were hit by the avalanche, some 30 metres wide. No-one is missing, the paper said.
