Minister talks to drinks industry about warning for pregnant women

Health minister Edith Schippers is to talk to the drinks industry to discuss adding a warning to pregnant women on the labels of alcoholic drinks.

The minister made the statement in response to questions from MPs. Anti alcohol abuse campaigners have called for the introduction of warning signs for pregnant women.
Schippers told MPs France is currently the only country where warning logos are compulsory. Since the logo was introduced in 2004, the number of people who think it is unacceptable to drink while pregnant has risen to 87%.
