FC Twente sacks trainer Adriaanse, brings back Steve McClaren

Football club FC Twente has sacked its trainer Co Adriaanse and is bringing back Steve McClaren, the AD reports on Tuesday.

McClaren took the Enschede-based club to its first ever league title in 2010 and is currently out of a job, since leaving Nottingham Forest in November.
The former England coach will join Twente on the Canary Islands on Friday as they prepare for the second half of the league competition, the paper said.
Well-placed
FC Twente is currently third in the premier division and just five points behind leader AZ of Alkmaar. The club is also through to the knock-out rounds of the Europa League.
Despite this, the AD says Adriaanse’s working methods have caused considerable irritation at Twente. The Telegraaf says the coach was too much of a loner, there was a lack of chemistry with the players and he ignored ‘club culture’.
Adriaanse joined the club in June 2011 to replace Michel Preud’homme, who in turn had replaced McClaren.
