Star-studded launch for Holland’s first 3D film

The premier of the Netherlands first 3D film – Nova Zembla – took place at the RAI in Amsterdam on Monday evening, attended by crown prince Willem Alexander, princess Máxima and top model Doutzen Kroes, making her film debut.

The film is about the shipwreck of Willem Barents and his crew of 15 in the Arctic in 1596 and how they survived the winter. Much of the film was recorded on Iceland, in Canada and in two giant freezers, to recreate the sub-zero temperatures endured by the crew.
Kroes plays the love interest of the cabin boy, who kept a logbook of their efforts to survive.
